2002 IAAF World Cross Country Championships March 23-24, 2002 The 2002 IAAF World Cross Country Championships will feature six championship races over a two-day period March 23-24 in Leopardstown, Dublin, Ireland. The action will begin on March 23 with the Junior Women's race (5,982 meters) followed by the Senior Men's short race (4,228m). The day will conclude with the Senior Women's long race (7,974m). On Sunday, March 24, the competition will begin with the Junior Men's race (7,974m) followed by the Senior Women's short race (4,228m). The final event is the Senior Men's long race (12,000m). The Team USA roster was determined at the 2002 USA Winter Cross Country Nationals in Vancouver, Washington. Leaders on this year's U.S. team include 2000 Olympians Deena Drossin, Suzy Favor Hamilton, Elva Dryer, Jennifer Rhines, Amy Rudolph, Abdihakim Abdirahman, Tony Cosey and Mebrahtom Keflezighi. University of Colorado standout Dathan Ritzenhein, who won the bronze medal in the Junior Men's competition at the 2001 World Cross Country Championships, will compete in the senior men's long race in Dublin. |
