Entry Information

Important: All entries (both club and individual) must be submitted online at the Indiana Invaders website. Paper applications are not available for this event.

Entry Fees

Entry fees are $15 per athlete regardless of events entered.

Qualifying Standards

There are no qualifying meets or performance standards required to compete at the Club Championships (Top 32 entries will be accepted). However, participation in one of three authorized USATF regional competitions (South, West, East) is encouraged. The top two athletes (with a USATF club affiliation) in their event in one of three authorized USATF regional competitions earn automatic qualifiers to the Club Championships and will be seeded using their best current year effort.

Athlete Eligibility

  1. Membership: Each athlete must be a current eligible member of USATF. Not a member? Join here.
  2. Club Affiliation: Each athlete must be bona fide member of a USATF club. Unattached athletes are encouraged to join a local club or create a new club. Contact your local Association Membership Chair to find a club near you or for information on starting your own club. "Unattached/Non-Scoring" athletes, those athletes not with a registered USATF club, may participate but will not be factored into team scores and will only be entered into the meet after the specified deadline. Unattached athletes will only be added to events to fill out a field. No additional heats will be created to accommodate these athletes.
  3. Age Limit: An Open athlete and their high school class must have graduated.
  4. Citizenship: A USA citizen or a permanent resident alien (Student Visas, Tourist Visas & other short-term Visas are not accepted)

Club Entry Procedure

  1. Clubs must be current USATF member organizations prior to entering the Championships. If your club is not a current USATF member organization you must contact your local Association Membership Chair.
  2. Clubs will use the Invaders' web site to enter their club in the meet.

Athlete Entry Procedure

  1. Athletes must submit a mark achieved between January 1 and July 8, 2002.
  2. Athletes may finish in the top two in their event in one of three authorized USATF regional competitions (South, West, East). These athletes are automatic qualifiers and will be seeded using their best current year effort. The South Regional Championships will be held July 6 in Jackson, MS; the West Regional Championships will be held July 6 in Seattle, WA and the East Regional Championship will be held July 7 in New Haven, CT.
  3. Team managers or designated representative will process their entries at the Invaders' site. All entries submitted will be listed on the website.
  4. Closing date to submit all marks and entries (including updated marks) is midnight July 8, 2002 (PST).

Declaration Procedures

  1. All marks and entries will be available on the Invaders' web site as clubs register.
  2. All events will show lists of ALL entries submitted, including those outside of the top target figure (32).
  3. The "honest effort" declaration rule will be fully enforced for this team scoring event.
  4. Athletes and coaches should submit scratches by midnight July 14th (PST).
  5. The lists will be updated from scratches by July 15, 2002, showing all athletes who are remaining as "declared." After July 15, 2002, an athlete withdrawn from any event will be completely withdrawn from the meet, including relays.
  6. At the point where declarations are finalized on July 15, 2002, those athletes in the top 32 (or relay teams) will be considered entered and fees will be determined (payment by check or money order will be accepted at the event).

Residency Issues

  1. A panel consisting of Skip Stolley (chair), Sam Caldwell, and Steve Vaitones will review any residency issue forwarded to it. The proof of residency will be similar to that required by public institutions of higher education for resident tuition - a passport address, rental agreement, Visa, and/or proof of employment.
  2. Any club entering an athlete found not to be a resident of their Association (or subject to a 7-B agreement between Associations) will be penalized $100 for each instance and the athletes points removed from scoring.
  3. Appeals to residency rulings will be made to a panel of USATF's president, Associations chair, and director of legal affairs. A $200 bond must be posted for each appeal. The panel may rule that the original ruling was in error and return both the original penalty of $100 and the appeal fee of $200, or rule that the original ruling was correct, but outside the control of the club and return the original $100 fee.
