Entry Forms

All entry forms for nationals must be submitted through the Regional Coordinator at your Regional Junior Olympic Championships. Entries cannot be accepted by any other method. All entry forms must have your age verified by your association and stamped by the regional coordinator on your entry form or documentation attached to the form. Incomplete entries will be assessed a $10.00 fee. NO late entries will be accepted.

Packet Pick-Up

Athletes will be able to pick up their competition numbers and related materials Monday through Sunday in the entrance of Burke High Schools main building.

Special Note: If your event is early in the morning, we strongly recommend that you pick up your competition number at least one day in advance of your competition. The meet management will not be held accountable for individuals missing an event due to late packet pick-up OR any other reason. BE ALERT!

Event Check-In

All athletes must report no later than 45 minutes prior to the published event time to the designated clerk area. Coaches and parents will be restricted from this area. Field staff will assist athletes with clothing/bag check for security purposes. Meet management is not responsible for lost or stolen property. There will be restrooms and plenty of shade in the athletes area. Trainers and medical staff will be available prior to and following competition. Water and electrolyte stations will be plentiful throughout the facility. The track MUST remain clear at all times during competition. Only athletes actually competing at that time will be allowed on the track or infield. The competition WILL NOT BE DELAYED due to accidents, late wake-ups, traffic or any other unforeseen reasons. Please allow plenty of arrival time during peak traffic periods.

Protest Table

Protests must be filed at the protest table within 30 minutes after results of the event have been posted as per rule 73. There will be a $75.00 cash fee required to file a protest. The fee will be refunded only if the protest is upheld. Posted results are for everyones observation. Please do not remove posted results. Individual event results will be available for purchase as soon as possible after the event, in the Olympic Village.


Meet management will provide all shots, discuses, javelins and relay batons. Participants must use the implements provided for competition. All competitors must provide their own pole vault poles. Some field implement items will be sold at the end of competition. Sign up to purchase implements at the information booth in the Olympic Village. SPIKE LENGTH The spike length allowed for field events is 1/4 (9.0 mm). For all other track events, the spike length allowed is 1/8 (4.5 mm). Track composition is Southwest Eurotan. Spikes will be available for purchase in the Olympic Village.

Starting Heights

The starting heights for the high jump and the pole vault will be per rule number 242.5K. Incremental increases will be 5 cm in the high jump and 15 cm in the pole vault.


Awards will be presented 90 minutes after the event is completed in the awards area. We ask all award recipients to report 60 minutes after the event is completed.

IAAF World Youth Championships Team Qualification

This meet along with the Youth Athletics National Championships held in Miami will qualify athletes for the USA team in the 2003 IAAF World Youth Championships. Please check the meet program for more information.

Opening Ceremonies

Athletes, coaches and officials are invited to participate in the 2002 USATF National Junior Olympic Championships Opening Ceremonies, Wednesday, July 24th at 7:30 PM, at Burke High School. Please join us for a special tribute to our outstanding Junior Olympians. Enjoy the parade of athletes and special entertainment. Participants in the parade are asked to wear their uniforms and report to the Shot Put East area at 7:00 PM. See your meet packet for more information.


There is free parking in the east parking lot and overflow parking on the grass. Please try to carpool as much as possible.

Stadium Rules

Tents and umbrellas will be permitted only in the east bleachers and on the grass at the North end. Tents may be left overnight at your own risk. Absolutely no alcohol or any form of tobacco will be permitted in the stadium, Olympic Village or on the campus of Burke High School. Coolers are allowed in the stadium, but we request no glass containers and that you please remove everything you brought in when you leave.

Food Services

Concessions will be sold inside the stadium and an Olympic Village with vendors available adjacent to the stadium. There are also restaurants within three blocks of the track.

Medical Services

There will be at least two doctors, as well as certified trainers and a rescue unit will be on duty during the competition.

Meet Travel Agent

Uniglobe Action Travel will serve as the official travel agent of the 2002 Junior Olympics. They have negotiated rates inbound to Omaha for the meet. If you purchase your tickets from Uniglobe for this meet, you will be entered into a drawing to win two free airline tickets for domestic travel. They are offering the following discounts: 15% off full coach fares if purchased more 60 days in advance, 10% off published fares if purchased more than 60 days in advance, 5% off published fares if purchased less than 60 days in advance. Uniglobe has also negotiated special car rental rates for this event. Vehicles can only be booked through Uniglobe to receive special rates. Attention club managers and coaches, contact Uniglobe about thier group travel program which has benefits you cant duplicate on your own. Airport Information

Eppley Airfield is located approximately 15 miles from Burke High School. The Organizing Committee will provide a welcoming and information table for your convenience during daytime arrivals by the Main baggage Claim Area.

Meet Photographer

There will be an official meet photographer at the Junior Olympics. Information concerning purchase of meet photographs will be available in the Olympic Village. Photos of the finish of each race from Finish Lynx will also be available for sale in the Olympic Village, one hour after each race.
