Orin Richburg - Men's Head Coach Richburg took over as men's and women's track and field/cross country coach at the University of Washington in 1997 after previously coaching the UW women's team. A 16-year coaching veteran at UW, Richburg was an assistant coach for the 1989 Junior Pan American team and assisted with the United States National Team in its 1994 dual meet with Great Britain. In 1997, Richburg was selected by USATF as the head coach for the U.S. national team for the World Indoor Championship Meet in Paris, France. In the 1960s, Richburg earned All-America honors as a sprinter at Kent State. He finished sixth in the 200m at the 1967 NCAA Championships and still holds the Kent State indoor record for the 440m and the outdoor records for the 220m and the 440m. Richburg also played football at Kent State. A 1970 graduate of Kent State, Richburg earned his undergraduate degree in health and physical education. He later earned his master's in education from Western Michigan. Richburg and his wife, Telva, are the parents of two children. |
