2001 Pontiac Grand Prix USA Indoor Track & Field Championships

With a World Indoor Championships berth and a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix automobile on the line, America's top athletes come to the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix USA Indoor Track & Field Championships March 2-3 in Atlanta with plenty of incentives.

In Atlanta, the Team USA contingent for the World Championships March 9-11 in Lisbon, Portugal, will be determined, with the top two finishers in each event being offered the chance to represent the World's #1 Track and Field Team in Portugal.

The top male and female athletes of the Golden Spike Tour also will drive away from the Georgia Dome in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, as part of the Pontiac Grand Prix Cup. Pole vaulter Stacy Dragila and Terrence Trammell, the top male sprinter and hurdler of the Tour, are the heavy favorites to win the cup heading into the Indoor Championships.

The Pontiac Grand Prix Cup is a point-based system that will award a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix to the top male and female athletes of USA Track & Field's 2001 Indoor Golden Spike Tour. The Millrose Games was the first stop on this year's GST, followed by the Tyson Invitational Feb. 10 and the adidas Golden Spike Invitational Feb. 17 in Pocatello, Idaho. It concludes March 2-3 at the Pontiac Grand Prix USA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Atlanta. The Pontiac Grand Prix Cup is made possible through the efforts of USA Track & Field and Pontiac-GMC.
