2001 Indoor Golden Spike Tour Serving as a Victory Tour for members of the World's #1 Team, which won 10 gold medals and 20 medals overall in Sydney, this year's Golden Spike tour includes Olympic gold medalists Stacy Dragila, Nick Hysong, Jearl Miles-Clark and Monique Hennagan. The Golden Spike Tour provides U.S. athletes the opportunity to compete in the United States, earning substantial prize money in front of a nationally televised audience. The 2000 indoor season averaged more than 10,000 fans in attendance per event, and the 2001 GST looks to build on that success. The 2001 Golden Spike Tour kicks off on February 2 with the 94th Millrose Games, the most historic and prestigious international indoor competition in the United States. It continues with the Tyson Invitational February 10 in Fayetteville, Arkansas; the adidas Golden Spike Invitational at the Simplot Games February 17 in Pocatello, Idaho; and concludes with the Pontiac Grand Prix USA Indoor Track & Field Championships March 2-3 in Atlanta, where Team USA's roster for the IAAF World Indoor Track & Field Championships will be determined. At each Golden Spike Tour meet, Team USA athletes will be honored for their achievements. |
