Still a newcomer to the event, Sara Slattery won the 10,000 at the 2005 NCAA
Championships. She won the race in only her second attempt at the distance. The
victory earned Slattery her second NCAA individual title and 10th All-American
honor; her first national title came in the indoor 5,000m in 2003…had a big year
in 2006 as well, placing second at the AT&T USA Indoor Championships and
finishing the year ranked #4 in the 10,0000. The Phoenix, Arizona, native
married former University of Colorado teammate Steve Slattery, the 2003 USA
steeplechase champion, in January of 2004.
