Cox made the relay pool for Team USA at the Olympics after her fourth-place in the 400m at the 2004 Olympic Trials…she ran in the semifinals in Athens, earning a gold medal when her teammates won the final…at the 2004 Olympic Games, she appeared on NBC’s “Today Show,” to discuss being an Olympic mom…a sprinter and mother, Cox was one of the top high school sprinters in the nation as a prepster, winning 6 North Carolina state crowns…a successful sprinter on the ACC level at North Carolina, Cox gave birth to her daughter, Destiny, as a junior at UNC…returned to the UNC track team a year later…of being a single mom, athlete and full-time student, Cox said, “You know, we all in life have paths that we have to follow, I just took a detour, a situation like this can either make or break you.” Cox has been improving her times ever since, and has been a part of Team USA relays at USA vs. The World at the Penn Relays and the 2002 World Cup in Athletics...athletes she admires most include Florence Griffith-Joyner, Tudie Blake and Marie Jose Perec...her brother ran track for East Carolina University and her cousin, Kenny Cox, ran for UNC…majored in Communications at UNC…in high school was a Big Sister mentor for special needs students…enjoys singing.

2006: 6th in 400m at USA Outdoors (51.34)…1st at Chapel Hill (22.95)…1st at Kansas Relays (22.85)…2nd at adidas Track Classic (22.61w)…1st at Modesto (22.89)…1st in 400m at Santo Domingo (51.15)…ranked #7 at 200m and #8 at 400m in the U.S. by T&FN…best of 22.85 and 51.15.
