USA Outdoor Championships
Austin
received some acclaim as a two-time NCAA Division III national men’s discus
throw champion (2005-2006), but it was at the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor
Championships when he really jumped onto the national stage with his impressive
fourth-place finish. Austin finished the 2006 season ranked #4 in the U.S. by
Track & Field News, marking his first career appearance on the top ten list.
In 2006 he helped his Williams College team to the New England Division III
Championship and a fourth-place finish at the Division III NCAA Championships
during his final season there. At Cumberland Valley High School in
Mechanicsburg, Pa., Austin was the team captain in 2001, when he also was the
Pennsylvania
state champion in the discus. He helped his team to the AAA team championship in
2001 as well, and set school record in the discus of 57.23 meters/187 feet 9
inches). He has two brothers, Matt and John… Brother John competes at Duke in
the Javelin… Austin received two medical red-shirts while at
Williams
College as a result of breaking his foot on separate occasions… In his spare
time he enjoys fishing… Austin is enrolled as a non-degree graduate student at
the University of Arizona.
