With his victory in 2005,
Riley has won the 3,000m national title at the USA Indoor Track & Field
Championships in three consecutive years. An accomplished competitor as a prep
and collegiate star, Riley has steadily climbed through the ranks to become one
of the nations finest middle distance competitors. Rileys 2004 season got off
to a resounding start as he successfully defended his U.S. Indoor 3,000m crown
in Boston with a winning time of 7:57.69. He later qualified for the 2004
Olympic Team, then placed 14th in the opening round of the 5,000m competition in
Athens. Best known during his collegiate career at Stanford for his NCAA 5,000m
triumph in 2001, Riley was a six-time state high school champion in track and
field and cross country and a seven-time All-American in track and field and
cross countryRiley captured the bronze medal in the 5000 meters at the 1997
Junior Pan Am Games in Cuba and ran 3:43.16 in the 1500 meters indoors, which
was the fastest time from a high school senior in 20 years ... a prep
All-American in the mile in 1996 and 1997, Riley finished first in the 5000
meters at the 1997 U.S. Junior Track & Field Championships in Edwardsville,
Ill., and third in the 1500 meters ... an indoor All-American in the mile during
his junior and senior seasons, Riley was the 1997 national indoor leader in the
1000 meters, the mile and two mile, and set the national meet record in the mile
... placed eighth at the 1996 Footlocker Cross Country Nationals in San Diegoa
studio art major while at Stanfordmarried to Janet, with one child, Jonathon.

collegian at that distance, and securing him a spot on the U.S. team at the
