Career Highlights: 2nd, 1998 and '99 NCAA Indoor mile; 3rd, 1998 and 1999 NCAA Outdoor 1,500.
Berryhill played basketball and football in high school, and only trained 12 miles a week on his way to five state titles in the 400 and 800. He never ran more than three miles at a time in high school. When he got to Colorado State, "We did it slowly, and (worked) up to 90 miles a week"majoring in forestryenjoys hunting, fishing, and hikingopened eyes at the NCAA Indoor in 1998, when he stunned the field by nearly winning the milewas invited to several races in New Zealand in January 1999, and ran personal bests in all of them: "I've had to readjust my goals. I think of myself as a miler, and the best part of my race is the last part. If I'm close, you can bet I'll go for it."
1999: 2nd, NCAA Indoor mile3rd, NCAA Outdoor 15006th at USA Outdoors (3:40.80)...bests of 1:46.98, 3:39.96 and 3:56.52.
1998: 2nd in 800 (1:49.53) at WAC Indoor2nd in NCAA Indoor mile (4:03.56)...won 1500 at WAC Outdoor (3:40.53)3rd in NCAA Outdoor 1500 (3:42.66)6th in USA Outdoors 1500 (3:40.05 PR)bests of 1:47.86, 3:40.05 and 4:00.44.
