Vaden came out of college in 2004 as a highly accomplished NCAA Division II sprinter before bursting on to the national and international stages with a fantastic 2006 season. Vaden was a surprise runner-up in the men’s 200 meters at the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Championships in Indianapolis with a monster personal best time of 19.98 seconds. He also finished in fourth place in the 100 meters at Indy with another personal best time of 10.20 seconds. Also in 2006, Vaden was an unexpected winner of the men's 100m at the Norwich Union International match on August 20 in Birmingham, England. Running into -1.5 meters per second headwind, Vaden won in 10.39 seconds to upstage the home favorites Mark Lewis-Francis and Dwain Chambers. Lewis-Francis was second in 10.41 with Chambers third, two hundredths behind. Vaden is an eight-time NCAA Div. II All-American who holds five CIAA Track & Field titles.
