In 2007, Madison moved to Los Angeles and is working with coach Bobby Kersee…posted
an indoor personal best of 6.80m/22-3.75 in winning the silver medal in the long
jump at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships…Madison burst on the national
stage with 2005 NCAA indoor and outdoor championship victories before placing
second at the 2005 USA Outdoor Championships in June. Madison then unleashed a
personal best leap of 6.89m/22-7.25 in the fifth round of the World Outdoor
Championships to win the gold medal...chose to forgo the remainder of her
collegiate eligibility to become a professional athlete...as a collegiate
freshman at the University of Tennessee in 2004, Madison earned indoor
All-America honors and scored in multiple events at SEC Indoors...Landed a
fifth-place long jump of 6.22m/20-5 at the NCAA Championships to earn her first
All-America distinction…was selected the SEC Freshman Outdoor Field Events
Athlete of the Year and was named Academic All-SEC, along with being a member of
the Lady Vol Academic Honor Roll. Madison was a member of 2003 USA Today All-USA
High School Girls Track Team and was named the 2003 Gatorade Ohio High School
Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year...she had nine career state
championships, including seven in individual events and became only the third
athlete in Ohio history to win four events at a state championship meet two
years in a row, in 2002 and 2003...joined former Zanesville Rosecrans star Susan
Nash (1983-84) and Cleveland East Tech/U.S. Olympic legend Jesse Owens (1932-33)
on that list.
