Lukezic’s most notable season was in 2006, which was highlighted by winning the USA Indoor 1,500m title and posting a huge new personal best of 3:33.28 in Rome on July 14, which improved his previous PR by nearly two seconds. A standout at Georgetown University as a collegian, Lukezic ran a then personal best in the men's 1,500 meters on July 22, 2005 at the Norwich London Grand Prix to better the "A" qualifying standard for the 2005 World Outdoor Championships in Helsinki. His time of 3:35.22 placed him eighth in the race, but he easily surpassed the "A" standard of 3:36.20. His performance ranks behind only Steve Holman's 3:34.95 posted in Monte Carlo in 1992. Lukezic's 8th-place finish in the semifinals at the World Outdoor Championships in Helsinki left him one spot away from qualifying for the final. A five-time All-American, Lukezic became a professional after three years at Georgetown, where he was a 5-time All-American and #2 all-time in the 1,500m behind Steve Holman. Over his three year career at Georgetown, he has earned All-America certificates five times: Outdoor 1500m (2003, 2005); Indoor DMR (2004); Indoor 3000m (2004); and Cross Country (2003).
