Galaviz set an American record in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase at the 2007 KBC Night of Athletics in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium finishing fourth in 9 minutes 28.75 seconds…At 2005 USA Outdoors, Galaviz at one point trailed the leaders by 20 meters before storming back with a tremendous final 200 meters to blow by Brianna Shook and Carrie Messner and finish less than a second behind winner Elizabeth Jackson. Afterwards, Galaviz told LetsRun.com…"I was like 'I just want to make the World team. I don't care if today's race hurts, I have to run through it'. I've run fast before but usually it's when I feel good, so I needed to run fast when it's important. I'm going to Helsinki." Galaviz’s time of 9:40.58 bettered her previous personal best by six seconds. One year later, she won her first national title … A prep star at Centennial High School in Peoria, Arizona, Galaviz was an eight-time Arizona state champion...won state titles her junior season in the 3200, 4x800 and heptathlon...state champ her senior season in 3200m, 1600m, 800m, 4x800m and cross country...a two-time letter-winner in basketball…in 2000 she became Arizona State University’s was Arizona State University’s third woman athlete to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Cross Country Championships with her school best-ever fifth place finish. Named 2000-01 ASU Female Student Athlete of the Year, where she was a double major in computer engineering and finance. Maiden name is Aguilera, husband’s name is Anthony, a fromer hurdler and sprinter. For their first date, she challenged him to a 4-mile run. He beat her, but she claimed victory when he ended their run by throwing up (eggs and rice)…she currently works 25 hours a week as a software engineer.
