At the 2007 ING New York City Marathon, Dryer was the top American finisher, in 6th place (2:35:15)…In 2006 Dryer ran her first marathon, placing 12th at Chicago (2:31:48)…Ran a 10,000m personal best of 31:21.92 at Stanford on May 1, 2005…she was the top American in the 10,000 at the 2004 Olympic Games, finishing 19th…in 2003 she first staked her claim as one of America’s best 10,000m runners with her runner-up performance at the USA Outdoor Championships and running the second fastest time by an American that season of 31:26.88 on May 2 at Palo Alto, Calif. Her second runner-up finish in 2004 came at the Olympic Trials and earned her the second Olympic berth of her career… started running because her older brother was a high school cross country star: ‘My coach was always trying to get our brothers and sisters out for the team because he figured it was in the genes.’ She ran 2:20 for 800m and 5:29 (1,600m) as a prep…as a senior, she ran the 3,200 at state: ‘I was so far back I lost count of what place I was after a while’…at Western State she started to realize her potential …won four NCAA Division II titles at 3,000m…in 1991, she married Russ Dryer, a former All-America cross country runner for Western State, and he has coached her ever since: ‘He’s a great training partner for me; he’s stronger. He has a lot to do with my improvement, the one-on-one coaching, and him being my biggest fan.’…hobbies include crocheting and reading…maiden name Martinez.
