Rudolph has been a force on the U.S. scene since her prep days, and at age 33, she is among the most internationally experienced American distance runners…Although she has been among America’s best for more than a decade, in 2006 she won her first national title, taking the 10,000m in 32:25.56…she set an American record at age 22, in 1996, for 5 km…Rudolph ran her first race when she was 6…it was a 50-yard dash, exactly one-tenth the distance she would race nearly 22 years later at her first Olympic Games…won eight state championships in Pennsylvania and never lost a dual meet…graduated from Providence with a degree in health policy and management…Rudolph upped her training mileage to 75-80 miles per week after college…when she made the Olympic team in 1996, the town of Kane rang its fire bell…her grandparents heard the news from their police scanner…married to Irish Olympian Mark Carroll, who holds Irish national records at every distance from 3,000 to 10,000m.
