After an outstanding career at Cal State Bakersfield, Cecilia Barnes recorded her best U.S. finish at the 2007 USA Outdoor Championships, placing fourth in the discus. Her performance earned Barnes a spot on the U.S. World Championships team. Also in 2007, Barnes set a personal-best at the Modesto Relays. In 2006, Barnes ended her collegiate career with NCAA Division II titles in both the discus and hammer, as well as a fourth-place finish in the shot put. It was her third consecutive NCAA Div. II discus title. Barnes was the NCAA Div. II runner-up in the hammer throw. After a four-year break from competing, Barnes burst back onto the track scene in 2004 by winning her first NCAA Div. II crown in the discus.
