Akor finished 17th in the 2004 Olympic Marathon Trials and has scored marathon victories at the Big Sur International Marathon and adidas Vancouver International Marathon. Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, she moved to the U.S. in 1993 and became a U.S. citizen in February 2003. After graduating from John Muir High School, she went on to complete a degree in Social Work at California State University Dominguez Hills. She placed 17th in the 2004 Olympic Marathon Trials and has scored marathon victories at the 2005 Big Sur International Marathon and 2004 adidas Vancouver International Marathon.
