Career Highlights: Two-time NCAA 1,500m finalist; 2004 Olympic Trials finalist

Considered one of the nation’s rising middle distance prospects, Ahmen is a four-time All-American, three-time SEC champion and a four-time All-SEC selection while at the University of Arkansas, Said Ahmed has come a long way from his birthplace in Somalia. In 2006, Ahmed found his rhythm in the 1,500 meters/mile, ending the season ranked #4 in the U.S. by Track & Field News. The highlight of his season was a new 1,500m personal best of 3:35.94 set in Stockholm on July 25.
