Career Highlights: 2005 USA Indoor runner-up

Whitman had a tremendous 2005 highlighted her runner-up finish at the USA Indoor Championships, and third place finish at the USA Outdoor Championships. She entered the 2006 season ranked as the nations third best triple jumper by Track & Field News. Whitman began her collegiate career at Hampton College, where she was named team M.V.P. as a freshman. She also was Freshman of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons in 1998-99, where she posted a then personal-best leap of 12.72m/41-9 in the triple jump. As a prep star in Illinois, Whitman was a two-time all-state selection in the triple jump and 100m during the 1997 and 1998 seasons won three letters for indoor and outdoor track led Hinsdale South to back-to-back West Suburban Gold Conference titles in 1997 and 1998.
