Career Highlights: Team bronze medalist at 2005 World XC Championships; 3rd in 1,500m at 2005 USA Outdoors; 2000 USA Junior 3000m champion
Mortimer unquestionably had her best season in 2005, which was highlighted by her third-place finish at the USA Outdoor Championships in Carson, Calif., and by winning a team bronze medal at the World Cross Country Championships (short course race) in St. Galmier, France. At the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials, she finished ninth in the 1,500-meter run with a personal best of four minutes, 11.51 seconds. While at Kansas State, Amy was a 12-time NCAA All-American, four-time cross country All-American, three-time NCAA outdoor track All-American in the 1,500 (2) and 5,000, five-time NCAA indoor All-American in the 3,000 (3) and distance medley relay (2). She was a five-time Big 12 Conference champion in track while leading her team to two Big 12 team titles. Her collegiate personal best were 15:44 in the 5,000, 4:12 in the 1,500 and 4:34 in the mile. In high school, Amy captured the Kansas high school record and Golden West championship in the mile with a time of 4:44.09. She was a four-time 3A state cross country champion and a national Foot Locker cross country All-American in 1998, four-time 3A state track champion in the 3,200, state champion in the 1,600 following the 1997, 1998 and 1999 seasons, state champion in the 800 for the 1998 and 1999 and finished ninth at the 1998 USA Junior Nationals in the 3,000. Mortimer is in her third season as a coach at Boston College.
