The future is bright in the womens 3,000m steeple as Shook closed out her 2004 season with an American record at Heusden. The AR of 9:29.32 atoned for her Olympic Trials disappointment when she crossed the finish line first but was disqualified for running around the first barriershe has proven to be a contender after winning her first U.S. crown in the womens 3,000m steeplechase at the 2003 USA Outdoor Championships while only a junior at Toledoshe redshirted the 2003 outdoor season as part of her 2004 preparationswith her 2003 U.S. title, Shook became the first athlete from the Mid-America Conference to win a U.S. national title while still in school one of the most decorated Ohio high school runners of all time...won three straight Ohio State Division III cross country championships...holds the Ohio State Division III record for the 3,200m (10:59)...also won two Division III championships in the 1,600mmajor is photography and communications.
