Johnson Lane led Team USA to a sixth-place finish at the 11th Marathon World Cup at the 2005 World Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Helsinki, Finland, with her 26th place finish in 2:34:43. That performance was a substantial improvement on her previous career best of 2:37:39 when she finished sixth at the 2004 Twin Cities Marathon in 2:37:39. She is a volunteer assistant coach for the Ball State University women's track and field and cross country teams in Muncie, Ind., where her husband Todd is the assistant coach for the cross country and track teams. She qualified for the Helsinki team after running a personal-best 2:37:39 at the 2004 Twin Cities Marathon, where she was the second American behind her Helsinki teammate, Jill Boaz. Johnson Lane recently finished 8th, in 33:22.69, in the 10,000-meter run at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Carson, Calif. 2004 saw her capture her first major road race win and U.S. title at the USA 20 km Championships, she was also 19th at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. Johnson Lane was a five-time NCAA Division III national champion track and cross country athlete for Luther College and a nine-time All-American. She was also named the 1996-97 Division III female athlete of the year.
