Nye has peaked at the right time in the womens steeplechase. She won her first-ever U.S. title in the event at the 2001 USA GMC Envoy Outdoor Track & Field Championships, out-kicking American record holder Elizabeth Jackson on the final turn to win by a half-second and set a then AR. Nyes performance (9:49.41) shaved 11 seconds off her previous personal best and was an American record. Jackson reclaimed the American record less than eight days laterNye is very active in her local community, working as the cross country coach at her former high school (Mt. View HS)also works as the Deputy Director of the Deschutes Resources Conservancy, a non-profit organization that monitors the water quantity and quality of the Deschutes River and runs programs at the Athletic Club of Bend maiden name is Karnoppshe married Brad Nye in May 1997 and they have a 4-year old son, Merle.
