        Long graduated with honors from Purdue University and received the Big Ten Medal of Honor as Purdues outstanding female student-athlete. She currently works for Purdues track team as an assistant coachrecently earned her masters degree in curriculum and instruction was a finalist for the 1999 NCAA Sportswoman of the Year award In addition to her love of track & field, Long is known on the rodeo circuit, and was featured in Western Horseman Magazine in 2001 for her participation in breakaway roping, team roping, cutting, goat tying and barrel racing. Occasionally competed in heptathlon while at Purdue, with two fourth-place finishes at the Big 10 Championships.
