Career Highlights: 2001 USA Outdoor Steeplechase Champion; 10th, 2000 Olympic Trials.

A two-time Michigan high school state champion at two miles, Chorny improved during his years at Indiana and post-collegiately, culiminating in his winning the 2001 U.S. Outdoor steeplechase title to earn a berth on his first World Championships team At Indiana, he was a three-time All-American, twice in the steeple and once in cross country. As a senior, Chorny won the 1999 Penn Relays Steeplechase title and then was the highest collegiate finisher in the steeple at the USA Outdoor Championships After receiving his degree in Geology, Chorny chose to stay in Bloomington to train with IU coach Robert Chapman full-timehe has set his sights on breaking the American record in the next two years.
