Washington seriously considered leaving the sport in 1999, then won the World Championships. In Sacramento in 2000 he made his third Olympic Team...Washington started out as a sprinter and triple jumper in junior high..."I saw some guys throwing rubber discs in the gym and it looked fun"...married since 1993 to Lesley; has a son, Colemen (born 1996)...has been on the brink of retiring from the sport since 1994: "The sacrifices are pretty large financially.
