Career Highlights: 2nd at 2000 Olympic Trials; 8th at 2000 Olympics.

Palmer started in the sport when her best friend's dad, a runner, suggested she try the throws. She went out for track halfway through her freshman season in high school and ended up winning 10 Utah state titles. She was also all-state in volleyball... maiden name was Christiansen... married high school sweetheart Rick Palmer on January 30, 1998. Palmer currently provides daycare for a nephew and works at a fitness center, training at home after work or commuting to Provo several times a week for sessions with BYU throws coach Tapio Kuusela... trained with one goal in mind for 2000: "I've always wanted to make the Olympic team" Achieved her goal when she made her first Olympic team. Plans to concentrate on the hammer, but continue to dabble in the shot and discus: "for cross training."

2000: 8th in HT at Olympics 66.14m/217-0.50... 2nd at Olympic Trials 66.32m/217-7... ranked #8 in world (#2 U.S) at HT by T&FN... best of 68.28m/224-0 (PR).
1999: 11th at USA Outdoors (192-3)...best of 220-7.
1998: Won WAC Indoor SP (59-2.25 PR) and WT (66-7.25)...2nd in NCAA Indoor SP (56-8.75), 3rd in WT (68-10 PR)...won WAC HT (206-3), 2nd in SP (55-5.75)...2nd at NCAA HT (208-3), 4th in SP (57-3.5)...2nd at USA Outdoors HT (209-0)...3rd in Commonwealth Games HT (217-7)... ranked #4 in world (#1 U.S.) at HT by T&FN; #6 U.S. in SP...best of 59-2.25 and 220-1, plus 170-3 (DT).
