Career Highlights: 2000 Olympian; 1999 U.S. 10,000m champion; 1997 U.S. 5,000m champion; fourth, 1996 Olympic Trials 5,000; 1998 half-marathon and 10km road champion; 3-time World Championships team member.

Hickman fulfilled her Olympic dream in 2000, finishing third at the Olympic Trials in the 10k to avenge her fourth-place finish in the 5k in 1996, when Mary Slaney passed Hickman in the final stages of the race...started running at age 8, when her father timed her and her brothers at sprints in front of their house...spent her high school years in Egypt; her father worked for an oil company that was drilling in the Suez..."It was a blast," she says of the experience...had a low-key running career prior to her senior year at Colorado State: "I was not as serious about my running then. I concentrated on the 1500. As a senior I realized that I only had one year left to run. I moved up to 3000 and got serious.
