Career Highlights: 2000 Olympian; 2nd, 1997 World University Games.

Made the 2000 Olympic Team after surviving a jump-off at 18-5.5 against Derek Miles and Pat Manson. Nationally ranked for the first time in 1999, Harting was a two-time Sun Belt outdoor champion while at Arkansas State, later earning bachelor's and master's degree in exercise. Finished 6th at 1999 U.S. Outdoors, and finished the season ranked 7th in the U.S. Placed 8th at 1999 U.S. Indoor Championships, and captured silver medal at 1997 World University Games. Trains at Bell Athletics, a club that includes American Record holder Jeff Hartwig and 2000 Olympian Kellie Suttle. Enjoys playing the guitar in his spare time.

2000: Placed 3rd at the Olympic Trials (5.63/18-5.5), winning a jump-off at 5.63m/ 18-5.5...failed to make final at Olympics (5.40/17-8.5)...ranked 5th in U.S...set season best of 5.65/18-6.5 at Eugene on June 24.
1999: Placed 6th USA Outdoors...ranked #7 in U.S. by T& of 18-8.75.
1998: Best of 18-4.5 (indoors). .
1997: Placed 2nd, World University of 18-4.75 (indoors).
