Clark's victory at the 2000 Olympic Marathon Trials was one of the greatest upsets in U.S. Olympic Trials history...'My expectations were top-20, and a great day would be top-10. Winning I never thought about. I'm in shock.'...at the Trials, improved PR by 7:07, then lowered her PR still further with a 2:31:35, 19th-place finish at the Olympic Games. That time gave Clark a total PR improvement 9:03 during the course of 2000... Clark's Olympic performance was made all the more impressive, considering she had suffered from plantar fascitis throughout much of the summer ...did pre-Olympic Trials training on a treadmill in her basement ... Clark's story and Olympic Trials victory brought a deluge of media interest, from the Today Show to Oprah Winfrey's magazine 'O'... 1978-79 Montana state cross country champion... earned medical degree from University of Washington in 1988...works as a pathologist at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, and her husband, John, also is a medical doctor...the couple has two children...was the U.S. Olympic Committee's March 2000 Female Athlete of the Month... maiden name is Hoth.

1999: 3rd at Twin Cities Marathon, USA Championship...won Anchorage Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon for third time (also 1995 and 1998)... best of 2:40:38.
