Looks to make a full recovery from surgery she had in September 2000 to repair ruptured Ulnar collateral ligament in her right elbow ... Carlsten finished third at the Olympic Trials, but failed to achieve the Olympic 'A' standard... an All-America from Florida, Carlsten also throws the shot and discus... at the 1999 SEC Championships, Carlsten finished second in the javelin (157-9), then threw the exact same distance in the discus to finish fourth; she finished third (48-0.75) in the shot put... Carlsten transferred to Florida after a season at North Carolina... while with the Tar Heels, she won the NCAA Outdoors and the Penn Relays... she holds a UNC school record (175-02) in the javelin... majoring in education at Florida.

2000: 3rd at Olympic Trials JT (56.98m/186-11)... did not achieve the Olympic 'A' standard required to compete on team... won Penn Relays JT (49.96m/163-11) ... 2nd at NCAA Outdoors (55.50m/182-1) and at Mt. SAC relays JT (52.82m/173-3)... won Florida Relays (49.26/161-7)... won SEC Outdoor JT (55.10m/180-9)... ranked #2 in U.S. by T&FN... best of 186-11.
1999: Won Florida Relays (151-6)... 4th at NCAA Outdoor JT (170-11)... 2nd at SEC Outdoors (157-9)... 4th at Penn Relays... bests of 173-9 (JT), 48-0.75 (SP) and 157-9 (DT).
