Blutreich comes from an athletic family. Her father was a captain on Boston College's football team. She competed in the shot as a high schooler in Massachusetts, winning the state title as a senior. Blutreich also swam for two years. Her best sport as a prep was softball, in which she was all-state all four years. She went to North Carolina on a softball scholarship, with the understanding that she would throw the shot indoors. After a bad start in softball, she quit the team and went over to track full-time...she is an assistant coach at Duke University...married former UCLA star Brian Blutreich on October 18, 1997...Blutreich had a 209-4 PR in the discus... plans to stay in the sport at least through 2001..."I still have some personal goals to achieve in 2001"...plans to start a family in 2002.

2000: Won Olympic Trials at 58.26m/191-2, was the only U.S. entrant in event at Sydney where she finished 11th 55.26m/181-3...twice set American records with the new implement, reaching 58.60m/192-3 at New Haven on July 1... ranked #1 in U.S. by T&FN... best of 58.60m/192-3.
1999: Won USA Outdoors (182-2)... 5th, Pan American Games...25th in qualifying at World Champs (171-7)...ranked #1 in U.S. by T&FN...best of 187-5.
1998: 3rd at USA Outdoors (183-10)...6th at Goodwill Games (175-6) ...ranked #3 in U.S. by T&FN...best of 187-1.
