Biography

Anne Riddle Lundblad has been racing ultras since 1999. Although it was the allure of the trails that initially drew her to ultrarunning, she has found her niche on the roads, specializing in the 100-kilometer distance. She has competed in the IAU World Cup 100K on four occasions, with her best performance coming in 2005, as she ran a 7:54:22 PR to place 2nd overall and top American woman. 2004 was an exciting year for her too, as she won national titles at the Dupont Trail Marathon (3:05:16) and the Peachtree City 50 km (3:39:58 PR).

Anne lives and trains in the mountains of Asheville, NC, where she enjoys a variety of terrain, from technical trails to roads to track. She believes that in order to be an all-around runner, one must train in all types of conditions and surfaces. I believe that part of my success in the 100k comes from the strength I gain from trail running as well as speed developed on the track. I dont think its any coincidence that my 100k PR came nine weeks after testing the limits of my endurance in my first 100 mile trail race.

Anne feels grateful for the opportunity to compete in numerous national championships and on national teams. My first national championship (GNC 100 km in 2001) was one of the most exciting races of my life. To be competing against some of the best female ultrarunners in the country, and then to become teammates with them, has been an amazing experience. One of the benefits of being a top-ranked ultrarunner has been the opportunity to meet and interact with a variety of runners. Anne frequently gives talks to runners in her community, from beginning marathoners to elementary school children, and enjoys the chance to give back to the sport that has meant so much in her life.
