At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Kreiner, suffering from a serious plantar fascia injury in her foot and noticeably limping, was 39th overall in qualifying with a best mark of 55.13m/180-10...In 2007, Kreiner again improved on her American record with her throw of 64.19m/210-7 in Fortaleza but her season was cut short by a torn right ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) and "Tommy John" surgery to repair the ligament…Kreiner set her fifth American record of 2006 at the Aarhus Games in Denmark with her throw of 62.44m/204-10, improving on her mark of 62.43m/204-10, her winning throw from the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Championships…Kreiner had the seven farthest throws by an American in 2006…made her first Olympic team by winning the 2004 Olympic Trials…she won her first U.S. Outdoor Javelin title in 2001, and she's done nothing but improve since. In 2003 she broke her own American record at the Pan American Games with her gold-medal throw of 60.86m/199-8 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic…she had traded the American record several times in 2002 with Serene Ross, but Kreiner's 60.86m/199-1 stood as the AR at season's end…despite owning 13 of the top 15 U.S. marks in the javelin in 2001, she did not achieve the 'A' standard needed to qualify for the 2001 World Championships…finished 2nd at the 2000 Olympic Trials (57.06m/187-02) when her final throw, nearly 10 feet better than her previous best of 177-5, catapulted Kreiner from fourth place to second place…however, she did not achieve the Olympic 'A' standard qualifier…"I was so upset that I missed (making the team) but I was happy that I threw a 10ft PR and finished 2nd…Kreiner played basketball, track and volleyball in high school…says she 'kind of fell into the javelin' after joining the Kent squad as a walk-on in 1996…in her first season of competition, Kreiner finished fourth in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and fourth at USA Juniors…in 1997, she finished 3rd at the NCAA Championships and in 1998, she won her first conference title, along with the Penn Relays crown…she also finished sixth at the '98 USA Championships and seventh at the '98 NCAA Championships…took the 1999 outdoor season off to gain more experience and knowledge of the new javelin…was biology/education major at Kent State.
