USATF DRUG TESTING at Youth Nationals & Junior Olympics
The USATF Youth Committee voted to begin drug testing this year
at the Youth National & Junior Olympic Meets.
The committee is being proactive by taking this step and setting up a testing program .
It was decided that this year would be an educational year. We will go thru the process for drug testing but the athletes in the Youth, Intermediate, and Young Men/Women age groups will watch a video showing the drug testing procedures. All athletes from the selected events in those age groups will be escorted off of the track to a location for education on the drug testing procedures.
Drug testing, when implemented for the 2009 season, will NOT be restricted to medal winners.
Athlete selection for testing will be random by competitor number.
