The Annual Meeting of the Missouri Valley Association was held October 4, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. The newly elected President, Kenneth Ferguson, outlined the Association's Strategic Plan for 2008-2009 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field and Cross Country Season. Association's Strategic Plan reflects the collective strategic plans of each of the Association's Committees. We hope we all can join together as we move forward with these bold initiatives. The success of the Missouri Valley Association will depend on participation and feedback as we finish 2008 and move into 2009. Missouri Valley Cross Country Championship Information Now Online
The 2008 USATF Missouri Valley Association Cross Country Championship will be held November 22, 2008 at KU's Rim Rock Farm. Rim Rock Farm is considered one of the premier cross country courses in the country. The Big Eight Cross Country Championships in 1983, 1991 and 1995 were held at Rim Rock Farm. Rim Rock was also where the 1998 NCAA Cross Country Championships was held and where the Kansas high school state championships is held each year. Only Online Registration will be accepted for this meet. Although sub bantam will compete this year, only bantams will advance to the National Championship which will be held in Mechanicsville, Va. Missouri Valley Association Introduces High School Grand Prix Series
The Missouri Valley Association has created the MVA High School Grand Prix Series. The Grand Prix is a series of six independent indoor track & field meets where Grand Prix points will be awarded to youth athletes who compete in scheduled indoor track meets. Grand Prix points will be awarded for individual performances in the following events: 50/55/60m dash, 50/55/60m hurdles, 400m dash, 1500m/Mile run, Long Jump, and Shot Put. At the end of the indoor season, the three athletes with the highest number of Grand Prix points in each event will receive the Gold, Silver or Bronze medal. The Missouri Valley Association will award a special plaque to overall top male and female Gran Prix point winner. More information will be forthcoming.
Heartland Racewalkers take gold in the Kansas Senior Games
Nine members of the Heartland Racewalkers took part in the Kansas Senior
Games in Topeka on Sept. 28. There were two races: 1500 meters and 5000
meters. Each member won one or two Gold Medals and therefore qualified
for the National Senior Games to be held in Palo Alto next August.

MINUTES OF AUGUST 21 SPECIAL
Minutes are now available from the special meeting of the Missouri Valley Associationís Board of
Directors, held on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the University of
Missouri-Kansas City. The
purpose of the meeting was to fill vacancies for president, vice
president, secretary, treasurer, membership chair, sanctions chair,
masters chair, cross country chair, and coaches advisory chair.

CHAMPS, 48 MEDALISTS FOR MO VALLEY AT NATIONALS
Five athletes from the Missouri Valley
Association won national championships over the weekend at the Junior
Olympic Championships in Omaha, Neb. The champions were Lindsay
Vollmer (heptathlon, intermediate girls); Parker Brush (pole
vault, youth boys); Corey Jones (shot put, young men); Cassie
Wait (pole vault, youth girls); and Erica Brand (discus,
intermediate girls). There were 48 medalists from the Missouri Valley at

VALLEY ATHLETES STORM REGION 9 MEET IN TULSA
137 athletes and seven relays from the
Missouri Valley Association have qualified for the 2008 Junior Olympic
National Championships in Omaha, Neb., to be held July 22-27.
Congratulations to all the athletes and relay teams, and best of luck at

MORE THAN 100
COMPETE AT MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The inaugural USATF Missouri Valley
Open/Masters Association Championships concluded at Rockhurst High
School in Kansas City on June 28. More than 100 athletes participated in
near-perfect weather conditions.
MO VALLEY TRACK AND FIELD MEET ATTRACTS 450 YOUTH
The Missouri Valley Association Youth Track and Field
championships attracted more than 450 youth from around the region June
13-14. The top finishers have qualified for the Region 9 Track and Field
championships in Tulsa July 10-13.
