Missouri Valley High School Indoor Grand Prix

The series consists of six independent meets that conduct indoor competitions for high school athletes on the MVA Youth Athletics Calendar. Grand Prix points are awarded for performances in the 50/55/60m dash, 50/55/60m hurdles, 400m dash, 1500m/Mile run, Long Jump, Shot Put and high jump in each of these competitions. The three athletes with the highest point total in each event will receive a medal and the overall top male and female point winner will receive a special plaque at the end of the season. The series will culminate with the Missouri Valley Association Grand Prix Indoor Championship on Feburary 28, 2009 at K-State University. For more information go to Missouri Valley Track and Field.

Missouri Valley Association Introduces High School Grand Prix Series
October 10, 2008
The Missouri Valley Association has created the MVA High School Grand Prix Series. The Grand Prix is a series of six independent indoor track & field meets where Grand Prix points will be awarded to youth athletes who compete in scheduled indoor track meets. Grand Prix points will be awarded for individual performances in the following events: 50/55/60m dash, 50/55/60m hurdles, 400m dash, 1500m/Mile run, Long Jump, and Shot Put. At the end of the indoor season, the three athletes with the highest number of Grand Prix points in each event will receive the Gold, Silver or Bronze medal. The Missouri Valley Association will award a special plaque to overall top male and female Gran Prix point winner. More information will be forthcoming.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:NTS:

1. Competing Grand Prix Student Athlete: There are no eligibility requirements, except those established by each university participating track & field series, to compete as a Grand Prix student athlete.

2. Competing At The Missouri Valley Grand Prix Championship: To compete at the Missouri Valley Grand Prix Championship, which will be held on February 28, 2009, Student Athletes must be current members of USATF.

GRAND PRIX SCORING SYSTEM

1. Top Six Finishers In Each Grand Prix Event: The top six competitors in each Grand Prix event will receive points based on their finishing place.

2. Grand Prix Point Scoring: The following Grand Prix points will be awarded for each of the following finishing places:

GRAND PRIX CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT WINNERS & GRAND PRIX CHAMPIONS

1. Grand Prix Event Award Winners: The top three highest female and male point scorers in each event will receive awards at the end of the Grand Prix Indoor Championship.

2. Grand Prix Overall Points Champions: The male and female student athletes with the highest total Grand Prix points will be named the Grand Prix Champions.

3. Grand Prix Championship Meet Award Winners: The top three highest female and male point finishers in each Grand Prix event at the Grand Prix Championship Meet will receive individual awards.

4. Awards Presentation: All awards will be presented at the Missouri Valley Grand Prix Indoor Championship.
