The Missouri Valley Association is offering two USATF certification clinics for certification of new officials to be held at O’Hara High School in Kansas City, MO and at Heskett Center Indoor Track in Facility in Wichita, KS. Individuals attending the clinic must bring their current USATF membership card or current membership number with them to the clinic for verification. You may obtain a USATF membership online at https://www.usatf.org/membership/. No official will be certified unless he or she has joined USATF.

On behalf of the Missouri Valley Association, I would like to express my appreciation to you for attending the 2011 USATF Missouri Valley Association Cross Country Championship at Rim Rock. The Missouri Valley Association conducts these events because you are important to us and we want to make sure we do all we can to give our local youth athletes the opportunity to qualify for the 2011 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championship, which will be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I have attached for you review a copy of the meet results.

Before you will be able to declare your intentions regarding the National Junior Olympics Championship, the backup information about the recently completed Missouri Valley Association Championship will have to be uploaded on the national site. When that is done, you will be able to enter the meet. I sent the backup materials to the National Management team. The link will be live for Missouri Valley Association athletes to enter the meet as soon as the National Management Team updates the registration page.

Results

USATF Missouri Valley Association memeber and been chosen as the recipient of the annual Award Winner in Maters Race Walking. Alan won the gold medal in the 3k race walk at the USATF Indoor Masters Championship meet in March. He went on to win four more gold medals during the summer season. In June he won the 1500 meter walk and 5K walk in Houston at the National Senior Games. The next month he came back to win two more events at the World Masters Athletic Championships: 5000 meter walk and 10K walk. The award presentations will take place on Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd, at the USATF National Convention in St. Louis.

A few corrects have been made to the meet information packet for the upcoming association cross country meet. The previous packet included the wrong email address for the age verification. Please note that this has been updated to the correct address is the current pack. Please send the age verifcation to Ed Thomas's email address in information packet.

The top 10 Youth athletes and the top 3 Teams Competing at the 2011 USATF Missouri Valley Association Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships will qualify for the 2011 USATF Junior Olympic National Cross Country Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The 2011 USATF Missouri Valley Cross Country Championship will be held November 12th at the nation's best cross country venue, Rim Rock Park in Lawrence, Kansas. Athletes from the Sub-Bantam age divisions to the Young Men and Young Women age divisions can compete to reach the national championship in Myrtle Beach, North Carolina.

All are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Missouri Valley Association. Annual Committee meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m. If you are interested in joining one of Association’s committees, please choose one of the above committees. The Annual Meeting of the Association will begin at 1:30 p.m. The Missouri Valley Association will hold its Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 1st at the Office of the Missouri Valley Association, 7001 W. 79th Street, Overland Park, Ks 66204. All members are encouraged to attend and participate.

The 2010 spring and summer track & field season will mark the second year of an agreement between USATF's Missouri Valley Association and AAU's Missouri Valley Association to plan and coordinate their respective Championship season. Both organizations have agreed not to schedule meets that will directly conflict with Missouri Valley Association Championship and AAU’s Qualifying Meets. The relationship established between USATF and AAU within the Missouri Valley Association is an extension of the working relationship that exists between the organizations at the national level. Meet Director are encouraged to submit your meet for placement on USATF Missouri Valley Association calendar. However, because of the above agreement, the USATF Association will only place meets on its schedule that do not conflict with AAU's Qualifying meets. If you are interested in placing your meet on the Missouri Valley Association's calendar, Meet Directors must send an e-mail to the Association's Youth Chair, Forika McDougald, or the Association President, Kenneth D. Ferguson, requesting that the meet be placed on the schedule. Meets so requested will be placed on the schedule only if they do not directly conflict with an AAU Qualifying meets within the Missouri Valley Association.
