2013 BORDER CHALLENGE: Will be held June 9th at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. 2013 will mark the third year of the Youth Track & Field Border Challenge between clubs and unattached athletes from the Missouri Valley Association, the Ozark Association and other Associations bordering both the Missouri Valley and the Ozark Association. The Youth Division of this competition will be conducted along with the Open & Masters Divisions.

2013 USATF JUNIOR OLYMPIC ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP: USATF's Junior Olympic and National Championship seasons begin with the Missouri Valley Association Junior Olympic Championship, June 14-15 at Olathe District Activity Center (ODAC). Athletes will then qualify from that meet to USATF Region 9 Championship, July 11-14th in St. Louis, from which they will qualify for 2013 USATF Junior Olympic National Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which will be held July 22-28 2013.

The USATF Missouri Valley Association will conduct an Officials Certification Clinic to certify individuals interested in becoming new USATF Certified officials and to re-certify current officials. The clinic will be held on Sunday, April, 28th at Field house at Johnson County Community College, 12345College Blvd, Overland Park, KS 66210. The Clinic will begin at 3:00 pm. Clinic Cost: $30.

The 2013 USATF Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held July 11th -14th at the Olathe District Schools Activity Center (ODAC) located at 20925 W. 159th St. ODAC is a complete championship-quality track & field facility with an eight lane track and field amenities including a steeplechase pit, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put ring, discus ring, hammer cage and javelin run. The Masters National Outdoor Championship will feature athletes ranging in age from 30-95+. Competition at each age group will display their speed, strength, and endurance. Track events will range from 100 meters to 10,000 meters race-walk, while field events will include the full range of jumps and throws.

The upcoming USATF Missouri Valley Association Grand Prix Championship & Youth Championship meets, scheduled for February 23, 2013, have been cancelled due to inclement weather.

Mark your schedule for two upcoming USATF Missouri Valley Association Indoor Track & Field meets. The first is the 2013 Missouri Valley High School Grand Pirx Indoor Track & Field Championship, scheduled for February 23, 2013 to be held at Johnson County Community College. On the same day, the 2013 Missouri Valley Pre-High School Championship will be held earlier in the day of February 23, 2013 at ohnson County Community College.

The Missouri Valley Association Cross Country Championships results from the past weekend.

All are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Missouri Valley Association. Annual Committee meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m on October 6th. If you are interested in joining one of the Association’s committees, please choose one of the above committees. The Annual Meeting of the Association will begin at 1:30 p.m. Only current USATF members who are 18 years of age and older and in attendance (no proxy voting) will be allowed to vote in the meeting.

The 2012 USATF Region 9 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships will be contested between July 5th and 8th at Lawrence Free State High School & Kansas University. (Please Check Periodically as the information contained in this passport will be updated periodically: 6-24-12)

There will be two summer USATF meets hosted by the Shocker Track Club this summer at Wichita State University.

The Missouri Valley Association Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships will be contested on June 16th and 17th at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. There will be a Late Entry fee of an additional $10 for each event for entries submitted after regular registration closes. The Late Entry Process closes on June 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM. After regular registration closes at 11:59 PM on June 12th, the link below will automatically access late registration process.

St. Teresa Academy & USATF Missouri Valley Association will be conducting a triathlon, pentathlon, heptathlon and decathlon clinic and competition that will be open to all athletes within the USATF bantam to young age groups. The Clinic and Competition will be for athlete with or without experience in any or all of the events.

The 2012 Border Challenge Track & Field Meet between the Ozark Association and the Missouri Valley Association for Youth, Open and Masters athletes will be held June 9th - 10th, at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. 2012 will mark the 2nd year of this event. In addition, 2012 will add Arkansas; Dakota; Oklahoma; Minnesota; Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, and the Colorado Associations are to the Challenge. The Disabled and Youth Division of this competition will be conducted along with the Open & Masters Divisions (scoring by Association). This meet is also serving as the USATF Mid-America Open Track & Field Championship meet (team scoring).

USATF will conduct seven open track & field region championships during the first three weeks of June. These championships provide athletes with competitive opportunities to prepare and qualify for the Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field (Eugene, Ore.; June 21 - July 1) and the USATF National Club Track & Field Championships (Omaha, Neb.; July 6-7). The region championships are open to USATF members who are 14 years and older (women) and 16 years and older (men).

The Cliff Wiley Track Classic meet will take place on May 12, 2012 at Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri. The meet is limited to athletes 14 and under. Trophies will be awarded to the highest scoring girls and boys teams.

Kansas City Elite Competition will host a track and field clinic and developmental meet at Central High School on April 28, 2012. This event is open to all athletes between 5 and 15 years old. Registration will take place on site from 8:00am until 8:45am.

The Missouri Valley Association conducts these events because you are important to us and we want to make sure we do all we can to give our local youth athletes the opportunity to qualify for the 2011 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championship, which will be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Before you will be able to declare your intentions regarding the National Junior Olympics Championship, the backup information about the recently completed Missouri Valley Association Championship will have to be uploaded on the national site. When that is done, you will be able to enter the meet. I sent the backup materials to the National Management team. The link will be live for Missouri Valley Association athletes to enter the meet as soon as the National Management Team updates the registration page.

Results

USATF Missouri Valley Association memeber and been chosen as the recipient of the annual Award Winner in Masters Race Walking. Alan won the gold medal in the 3k race walk at the USATF Indoor Masters Championship meet in March. He went on to win four more gold medals during the summer season. In June he won the 1500 meter walk and 5K walk in Houston at the National Senior Games. The next month he came back to win two more events at the World Masters Athletic Championships: 5000 meter walk and 10K walk. The award presentations will take place on Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd, at the USATF National Convention in St. Louis.

The 2010 spring and summer track & field season will mark the second year of an agreement between USATF's Missouri Valley Association and AAU's Missouri Valley Association to plan and coordinate their respective Championship season. Both organizations have agreed not to schedule meets that will directly conflict with Missouri Valley Association Championship and AAU’s Qualifying Meets. The relationship established between USATF and AAU within the Missouri Valley Association is an extension of the working relationship that exists between the organizations at the national level. Meet Director are encouraged to submit your meet for placement on USATF Missouri Valley Association calendar. However, because of the above agreement, the USATF Association will only place meets on its schedule that do not conflict with AAU's Qualifying meets. If you are interested in placing your meet on the Missouri Valley Association's calendar, Meet Directors must send an e-mail to the Association's Youth Chair, Forika McDougald, or the Association President, Kenneth D. Ferguson, requesting that the meet be placed on the schedule. Meets so requested will be placed on the schedule only if they do not directly conflict with an AAU Qualifying meets within the Missouri Valley Association.
