WELCOME QUINCY TRACK CLUB!!

Officer's Reports: Mike Hinz, President and Ken Sellereite, Vice President gave reviews of this years activities.

Committee Reports:

Racewalking…All three co-chairmen were in attendance and gave short reports (Dave Kolva, Cindy Algeo and Ken Sellereite).  Activity has been slow but we did have a youth racewalker this year after several years of absence.  Also we had the usual showing at the AM 5 K championships.

(At this point the meeting took a 45 minute break for a medical emergency.  Dave Kolva was taken by ambulance to the hospital in the end.  As of Sunday PM Bessie reports that his diagnosis was dehydration and he went home that evening.)

Master's Men…Jeff and George discussed the possibility of holding the NW Master Championships in Spokane in 2007.  The same year we are hosting the National Masters Weight Throws Championships (note date change on calendar).  It would be in preparation for the 2008 National Masters Championships we are hosting.  Finding the right, affordable, venue is a large hurdle to cross at this point.

Youth...Ruth reported on the Junior Olympic year and that several national medals were won.  First place ranking certificates were passed out to clubs in attendance.  The 2007 Regional track & field date is up in the air at this point.  Hopefully we will have the final date by the January meeting.

Official's Certification…Sharon, Mike and Chairman Curt Ransford hope to sponsor a number of clinics in 2007.  If you would like a clinic in your area contact one of them or anyone on the committee and we will try to work out a date and clinic for you.

Records…Ruth passed the reins on records to Sharon.  Again we had more adult records than youth as that area continues to grow.

Men's Long Distance Running…Note the November 19 club cross country challenge.

Women's Long Distance Running…Dori reported we tried very hard to get an AADP athlete this year and it fell through at the last minute (a sister's wedding if the Sec. remembers correctly). Dori was meet director of the 5 K championship races we held this AM,  and continues to be very deeply involved in our sport in every way there is.  She is head of volunteers for the national cross country meet this fall so if you would like to help on either November 11 or December 7, 8, 9, or all please contact Dori and she will find the right slot for you.

Cross Country…Joe told us of his experience with the 2005 national cross country championships.  It is one that has been described as "everything that could go wrong did".  For those who don't know a foot of fresh snow was only the beginning of the nightmare!

Equipment…Lawson has turned the equipment over to Curt Ransford, including many donations from the Cheney Track Club.  Curt Ransford was selected as the outstanding official for the Inland Northwest this year.

Cultural Exchange…Ruth passed around the annual report from the Washington Cultural Exchange.  They remain a very active group that goes to many interesting places.  Contact Jim Murphy or Ruth for further information if you would like to nominate athletes or coaches.

Substance Abuse…Jim reported on the current situation with substance abuse.  His reports are always interesting in the ever changing area.

Coaches Education…The Level I course for coaches in now online.  USATF.org for all your track and field needs.

Course Certification…Dori has completed the work on certifying the Spokane Marathon and has plan for more courses.

Old Business:

Association Workshop Mike Hinz and Kim Kutsch attended the Association Workshop in Pittsburg in August.

Restructuring and background checks seem to be the big areas of discussion.  Mike has been cleared by a screening that

he can be our background screener for the Inland Northwest.  The fee will be $5.

The Inland Northwest again has achieved GOLD status for meeting or exceeding standards.  We have been no lower

than silver since the awards were established.  Mike insisted Ruth be the keeper/duster of this one.  In the past that has

been  a vice president's duty.

The 2006 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country group has been meeting regularly and plans are going

well.

New Business:

Master Athlete of the Year 2006 nominations were George Mathews, Jill McCluskey and Sue Hinz.  A vote was taken and the award will be presented sometime in the future.

Convention delegates were selected and elected.

Championship bids were voted on.  They are reflected in the attached schedule.

The 2007 budget was discussed and passed. There were several motions affecting it that were voted in.  The youth rebate was approved at three dollars.  Youth clubs need to request a rebate when they pay their 2007 dues.  It will be paid to renewing clubs based on their 2007 youth membership as registered on the computer records.  A $500 reimbursement will be paid convention delegates who attend the meetings asked of them, and return written reports and receipts by the January meeting. Also voted, the convention line item and possibly other funds, as available, will be used for 2007 convention delegates.

Davie Alporque and Scott Schochler were the nominations committee for the election of officers.  Those elected were:

There are several unfilled slots.  We need a scorer for the LDR championship events.  It is probable the road race series will be dropped because no one has stepped up to do it.
