Eligibility: Competition is open to all Region X youth athletes who advanced from their state JO meets.
Age Groups: Competition will be conducted in the following age groups: Bantam, Midget, Youth, Intermediate, and Young Men/Women.
Entry Fee: $6.00 per individual event, $24.00 per relay team.
$20.00 Decathlon/Heptathlon
$15.00 Penthalon/Triathlon
Each association is to submit their entries throuth its Youth Chair. No entries will be accepted directly from individual athletes.
Meet
Headquarters:
The Crowne Plaza Hotel, 2532 W. Peoria Ave (I-17 & Peoria) will serve as meet headquarters. Packet pickup will be at the hotel Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. There will be a short coaches meeting at 7 P.M. Friday. Review of the performance list will be available as well as those events not needing trials. Combined event athletes will pick up their packets at the track starting at 6:00 A.M. Thursday.
Weather: Come prepared to run in very hot, dry weather. Copper State Emergency Services will provied EMT metdcal sevice. Tents will be provided for the athletes. There will be a mid-day break in the schedule Saturday and Sunday to avoid the hottest part of the day.
Facilities: Nine lane all weather track. Runway and ligh jump area are all weather. Shot Put and Discus are are concrete. Spikes 1/4 or less will be allowed. Tents will only be allowed in the upper 10 rows of the stands, and on the grassey area around the track.
Awards: Junior Olympic medals will be awarded to the first 3 place finishers in each event, including relays. Ribbons will be awarded to the 4th thru 6th place finishers.
Rules: Current USA Track and Field youth athletic rules will govern. Once the meet begins, only competing athletes and working officials will be permitted on the track or infield area, except for medical emergencies.
Uniforms: All relay team members must wear a top and shorts of the same color.
Protest: All protests must be made in writing, to the referee, not later than 30 minutes after the results of an event have been announced/posted. Proper rule reference must be cited. All protests must be accompanied by a $50.00 cash deposit. Deposit will be refunded if protest is upheld, forfeited if protest is denied.
Check In
Track:
Two calls will be given for each event. Athletes in running events must report to the clerk of the course at the South end of the track, ready to compete, and stay in the area.
Check In
Field:
Athletes will check in with the official in charge of their event.
Implements /
TrackMaster:
Check in will be one hour before the start of the meet. Competitors may bring their own implements or use those provided. Once am implement is certified for competition and used for such, it becomes meet property until the completion of competition, except for javelins and vaulting poles, which remain private property.
Starting Blocks: Must be used for all running events of 400 meters or less, including the lead off leg of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, for age groups Intermediate and Young Men/Women. Only starting blocks supplied by the school will be allowed.
Warmup: Once the meet begins, no warm up will be allowed on the track or infield.
Conduct: Coaches, team leaders, and parents are responsible fot the conduct of all their athletes. Failure to maintain proper control and to display good sportsmanship/could result in disqualification from the meet.
National JO
Information:
The National Junior Olympic Championships will be held at Burke High School, Omaha, Nebraska, July 24 through July 27. The first three finishers in each event, by age group, at the Regional meet will be eligible to advance to the National Championships. The combined Events will be held July 22 & 23. The first two finishers at the Regional meeet will automatically be eligible to advance to the National Championships. A third athelete may qualify by meeting the performance standard at the Regional. Entry for the National meet must be made at the Regional meet in Glendale. Entry must include: entry form, entry fee, and proof of birth date.
