Webmaster

USA Track & Field, the National Governing Body for track & field, long-distance running and race walking, is seeking a motivated Webmaster to program and integrate New Media and interactive technologies into the current USATF Web site, www.usatf.org, and provide back-end program support to the database-driven portions of the site. Based in Indianapolis, the position will help lead USATF’s Web presence, attracting Web site traffic and serving our customers.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, enthusiastic, and open to multiple viewpoints and will creatively apply technologies to USATF’s Web site to further our direct outreach with fans and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance clear and concise navigation of usatf.org
  • Maintain database-driven portions of the site, modifying as needed and identifying the needs of USATF departments in this area
  • In conjunction with Internet Publishing Coordinator, provide training and support, as needed, for other departments on the use of existing or developing content management systems
  • Ensure security of the site, including e-commerce
  • Assist webmasters of local USATF Associations with questions about maintaining their Web sites
  • Ultimately lead the migration of existing code to a new database-driven Web site and maintain and enhance that new site once launched

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is desired, but Associate degree with 2+ years of experience, or 4+ years of on-the-job experience may be considered
  • Must be proficient in the following: ASP Classic (VBScript), HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, FTP, SSL, as well as Microsoft Web (e.g. FrontPage; Expressions) and Office applications.
  • Proficiency in the following preferred: ASP .NET (C#) and PHP
  • Ability to integrate video on the Web will be considered favorably
    Working knowledge of Fireworks, Photoshop, Dreamweaver (or ability to hand-code with a text editor), Flash, Acrobat, a strong plus
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage databases, including Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Web servers (Windows/IIS platform experience required; additional experience with Linux/Apache will be highly considered)
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to work with various departments and organizational constituents
