Web Developer
USA Track & Field, the National Governing Body for track & field,
long-distance running and race walking, is seeking a motivated Web Developer to
program and integrate New Media and interactive technologies into the current
USATF Web site, www.usatf.org, and provide back-end program support to the
database-driven portions of the site. Based in Indianapolis, the position will
lead USATF’s Web presence, attracting Web site traffic and serving our
customers.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, enthusiastic, and open to
multiple viewpoints and will creatively apply technologies to USATF’s web site
to further our direct outreach with fans and customers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance clear and concise navigation of usatf.org
- Be responsible for creating a search engine for the site and developing a
vehicle for the consistent presence of video clips, podcasts, online polling
and other interactive elements
- Maintain database-driven portions of the site, modifying as needed and
identifying the needs of USATF departments in this area
- Oversee Internet Publishing Coordinator, who has primary responsibility
for posting content (text/video/photo), coordinating online event coverage
(results, photos, stories) and reformatting content submissions to ensure
compatibility with www.usatf.org
- Ensure that the site complies with all relevant standards and laws,
including privacy laws
- Ensure security of the site, including e-commerce
- In conjunction with Internet Publishing Coordinator, provide training and
support, as needed, for other departments on the use of existing or developing
content management systems
- Assist webmasters of local USATF Associations with questions about
maintaining their Web sites
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency in hand-coding HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, as well as using various Microsoft Web and Office applications.
- Experience and demonstrated skill with VBScript and ASP.NET applications
in C#, including applications that access database and XML data stores
- Possess working knowledge of Fireworks, Illustrator, Flash, Acrobat, FTP
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage databases, including Microsoft
SQL Server
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work with limited supervision
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work with various departments, integrating their
needs
Pay Range: Upper thirties to mid-forties, commensurate with
