Internet Publishing Coordinator
USA Track & Field (USATF), the National Governing Body for track & field,
long distance running, and race walking is seeking a candidate with strong
organizational and communication skills to work with its internet presence.
USATF is a non-profit Olympic Sports organization based in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
This position will be responsible for the online experience of tens of
thousands of fans, members, and other people who visit the website each day.
Accordingly, the candidate should be hardworking, detail-oriented, dependable,
and have an understanding of track & field and running. The candidate will not
create original content, but instead will serve as the point-person for getting
content onto the website in support of USATF’s long-term strategic plan and
goals. This is not a technical position that requires extensive programming
skills.
The candidate will work as part of a team with the Multimedia Manager and
will have significant interaction with all of USATF’s committees, departments,
programs, events, and committees. This position will require some weekends and
after hours work to provide coverage of events and may require domestic travel.
Responsibilities
- Work with each department/program to add new content and keep the website
up-to-date
- Coordinate pre- and post-event coverage for National Championships and
Team USA events, including posting of event information, photo galleries,
video clips, and results
- For events being covered live, ensure the latest content, photos, and
videos are available to fans in a timely manner
- Adapt/reformat content that was not created for online purposes for use on
the website, consistent with the needs of both the content owner and the
target audience
- Ensure the accuracy of information being published, and, if necessary,
confirm it before posting
- Ensure that all content complies with relevant policies, guidelines,
standards, and best practices

information, identify key issues, and formulate conclusions based on sound,
practical judgment and experience
- Ability to proofread and catch mistakes, including grammatical errors,
inconsistencies, redundancies, and sport-specific issues
- Ability to build productive working relationships with staff and key
volunteers based on respect and good rapport
- Ability to learn quickly
Required Technical Skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Expression Web, Microsoft FrontPage, or other
website-updating software, including the ability to hand-code basic HTML
- Fluency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with an emphasis on the ability to
manipulate and transform data/information
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or other graphics software
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- One or more years of experience working on a professional website or in a
related environment such as communications, media operations, or sports
information
- Knowledge of track & field and running
- A working knowledge of USATF programs is a plus
Pay Range
Upper twenties to low thirties, commensurate with experience
