2010 Master Invitational Program Report

 

 

           = The Millrose Games Masters Men’s and Women’s 4 x 400 Invitational Relays we= re

 

 highly conte= sted battles.  In the women’s race At= hena Track Club edged Millrose Athletic

 

Association  = (4:20.03 to 4:22.37).  In the Men’s compe= tition it was Greater Philadelphia Track

 

Club (3:44.74) narrowly defeating Central Park Track C= lub (3:44.90).

 

           = At the Indoor US Nationals Invitational (1500m) it was Lisa Valle (So Cal Track Cl= ub

 

4:54.73) over Karen Steen (Club Northwest 5:01.32) and= Mary Thane (Mountain West Track

 

Club 5:12.94).  The men ran 1000m with Christopher Simpson leading the way in 2:39.92

 

followed by David Kunselman (So Cal Track Club 2:48.19) and M-50 Paul = Fragua (So Cal

 

Track Club 2:50.03).

 

           = Next up on the Masters Invitational circuit was the MT. Sac 800m.  Matt Bogdanowicz

 

(Str= awberry Canyon Track Club 2:05.11) won the men’s race, followed closely by Bret Evans

 

(unattached 2:06.97) and Steven Connell of Hawaii in 2:07.70.  Karen Steen (Club Northwest

 

2:20.74) won the women’s race over Tania Fischer (Th= e Jane’s 2:21.74).

 

           = The US Outdoor Championships in Des M= oines, Iowa featured a Masters Men= ’s and

 

 Women’s 10= 0m.  The men’s race only had six entries = with one injury and two scratches.  Only

 

three athletes made it to the starting line.  Robert Thomas (Southwest Sprinters 11:= 82) edged Eric

 

Merriweather (Sprint Athletics 11.98) and Ron Potocnik (Southwest Sprinters 11.99).  The = wind

 

was a -3.6.  = The women’s race never got off the ground with only one entry, so it was cancelled. 

 

The economy played a factor this year in field size.  Many athletes stated if there were tra= vel

 

 stipends or = prize money they felt it would have helped the situation.

 

           = The 2011 proposed events:    Â=  Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â   Indoor Men 60 h         Women 60m
