The MTF Award=
s Committee
accepted nominations for 2009 Athlete of the Year Awards in January &
February, 2010. All nominations w=
ere
posted on the MTF Awards web site at. http://www=
.usatfmasters.org/fa_awards2009.htm
. Voting by committee members occurred via email in February & March;
winners were announced on March 16. The
winners, who attended the Indoor National Masters Track and Field Champions=
hips
in March in Boston, were recognized and presented with USATF Masters Athlet=
e of
the Year pins. A formal presentation of plaques occurred at the Outdoor
National Masters Awards Banquet. =

award winners were present to accept their awards in person.
. In October, nominations w=
ere open for
both the Overall Athlete of the Year for 2010 and for the age group
categories. This year there was a=
slight
change in the age categories with the addition of the 80+category; separati=
ng
this group from the 60+ category. In the
80+ category only 3 males and 3 females will be selected as opposed to 6 ma=
le
and 6 female in the other categories. There was also a change in the point
awarded with higher values given to both WR & ARs. <=
/span>Winners for
2010 will be announced at the 2010 Annual Convention. However, the overall Master Athlete=
of
the Year has already been selected.
Oneithea (Neni) Lewis has been selected as the overall athlete of the
year for 2010. Neni set WRs in th=
e HT,
WT, Throws Pentathlon, and ARs in SWT and UW Pentathlon <=
/span>The MTF
Awards Committee also provides certificates, upon request, to athletes who
ranked first in their age group and event for the year. Ranking certificates can be obtained v=

Decathlon; won a Gold in the Decathlon and Silver in the PV at WMA Lahti,
