WMA General Assembly Delegate
Definition, Election, Duties, etc.
Proposal by Jeff Brower
Delegates should attend all WMA General Assembly meetings held during the length of their term. This includes, but is not limited to, meetings held at NCCWMA and WMA Indoor and Outdoor meets. These delegates will represent USATF Masters, and will report to the MTF Committee covering election results, rule changes and other pertinent information gathered at these meetings.
Number and Term: There will be three delegates: The Chair of the MTF Committee and two elected delegates. The term of each elected delegate is 4 years, and begins on January 1st of the year following their election. No individual may serve more than 3 successive terms.
Alternates: Alternates will be elected every 2 years and will have a a term length of 2 years beginning January 1st of the year following their election. Coordinated by the Chair of the MTF Committee, alternates fulfill the responsibilities of delegates only at meetings the delegates are unable to attend. In the event no delegates or alternates are able to attend a meeting, the MTF Chair may appoint someone to temporarily fill this role for one pertinent meeting.
Election : Two delegates are elected, but only one delegate will be elected every 2 years. Therefore, the term of the 1st elected delegate will not coincide with the term of the 2nd elected delegate. Candidates will be elected based on an Open Meeting ballot process. Voters will vote for 1 candidate. The votes will be tallied, and the candidate with the most votes will become the elected delegate, while the other candidates receiving the votes will become alternates.
Delegate 1: At the 2010 Annual meeting, 1 delegate will be elected to a 6 year term.
Delegate 2: At the 2010 Annual Meeting, 1 delegate will be elected to a 4 year term.
Future Delegates: At the 2012 Annual Meeting (and every subsequent Annual Meeting held in even years), alternates will be elected. At the 2014 Annual Meeting (and every subsequent Annual Meeting held in even years), 1 delegate will be elected to a 4 year term.
