MTF 2009 Treasurer’s Report<= o:p>

I thank you for electing me as your new treasurer. The= past year has been challenging. I acquired accounting software and learned to use it. I established a working relationship with the USATF National Office. We have faced some challenges together in this time of uncertainty for USATF. = As time passes, the relationship with USATF Accounting has been improving.
Unfortunately, sometimes I have sent in all the proper paperwork but the bills still do not get paid. Sometimes USATF Accounting is just slow in getting the reimbursement paid. At other times, USATF National Office Personnel directs USATF Accounting not to pay certain bills, although MTF has budgeted and approved the payment. Your Chair, Gary Snyder, and I a= re working to overcome this challenge. Hopefully, this challenge will be minim= ized in 2010.
My philosophy as treasurer is openness. In that spirit= , I have created a “MTF Income and Expenses As Of 11/23/2009” for y= our review. It is in Excel and will print on four pages if you print it horizontally. It shows in detail every source of income and expense booked = by me from 1/1/2009 through 11/23/2009 for MTF. Many more dollars of expense w= ill be booked prior to the end of 2009. In fact, if you have a reimbursable expense, you need to get it to me as soon as possible prior to end of this = year – otherwise you will not get covered.
As you can see, the current expenses just about match = the USATF 2009 Budget Funds. We have about a $40,000 cushion to cover the remai= ning expenses and any budget shortfalls for next year. I am limited in moving mo= ney around from one account to another. That means that some of the USATF Budget Funds will go unused and be lost for future use by MTF. At the end of the y= ear, I will try to insure use of USATF Budget Funds before prior to MTF surcharge funds (which carry forward into the future).
Note that MTF has a Memorial Fund with a current balan= ce of $2,765. This fund is not for operating expenses but can be used to promote = MTF. If you would like to make a donation to MTF, we have a Memorial Fund availa= ble for donation. You need to check with your tax professional, but contributio= ns to this fund should qualify for tax deductable status. You can check with me for details of how to contribute.
