COMMITTEE REPORT 2009
The games commit=
tee
consisting of Sandy Pushkin, Rex Harvey, Carroll Decease, Len Rask, Gary
Snyder, and Jim Flank as Chair has almost successfully put on both National
Indoor & Outdoor Championships. Their functions are Gary Snyder contrac=
ts,
Carroll Decease Records and protests, Rex Harvey Combined Events and Runnin=
g,
Sandy Pushkin Schedule and Running, Len Rask Throws and Jim Flank Jumps.
The Indoor
Championships held in Landover Maryland at Prince George’s Sports and
Learning Complex was a very successful event with just over one thousand at=
hletes
competing, the highest number ever for an Indoor Championships. Numerous
records were set on a very fast but flat indoor track. The LOC did a fantas=
tic
job with administering the meet and I give them credit for a job well done =
and
hope to again return. As good=
as
some things went the timing left a bit to be desired as a couple of races w=
ere
missed and some potential records were not timed it was a very unfortunate
thing but changes are in the works so this does not happen in the future.
The Outdoor
Championships held in Osh Kosh Wisconsin at JJ Keller Field were a huge
success. The LOC did a stupendous job. We had over nine hundred fifty athle=
te
compete. The facility had in addition to the main stadium with a nine lane
track a complete warm-up track with nine lanes, a complete compliment of ba=
ck
up field event venues in which to warm-up with and great weather to go along
with it. They had an extremely capable medical staff on location and even
stitched up two of our athletes on site. We definitely want to go back ther=
e in
the future especially as they bailed us out after Claremont Florida backed =
out
of their contract. I would like to thank Steve Cohen for finding this site =
for
us.

the meets are run by the rules.
In August I made=
a
presentation at the association’s workshop in Des Moines, Iowa on wha=
t it
takes to bid our National Championships. I have had some positive feedback =
on
potential bidders and will keep the Masters Site selection committee apprai=
sed.
